MoneyGram International, one of the biggest money transfer company, has reported that there has been a rising incidence of lottery scam cases that make people lose quite a big money. Most victims of the frauds got emails that they won a lottery and they had to transfer some money for the tax and when they have sent the money, they just realize they did not win anything. What is a bit silly about those cases is that the victims there did not buy the lottery mentioned in the mails or emails so how could they win?
The senior vice president of MoneyGram Security, Kim Garner, said that people should know how it happens in the lottery world. It is impossible to win the lottery without buying the tickets, then even if you win, it will be you claiming the tickets to the officials and not the official sending notification. It is also worth to know that the government will take the tax first before giving the remaining money so it is impossible to send money and receive later.
Winning a lottery is everybody’s dream but people have to be really careful so that they will not become the scammer’s target.
