The Tennessee Lottery is run by the Education Lottery Corporation of Tennessee. This group was created in 2003 by the state’s general assembly.
It was passed by law in 2002 by the Tennessee Education Lottery Implementation Law (TELC); thus, allowing participants to start gambling by 2003. The TELC is in charge of the lottery and is responsible for making sure it benefits the people of Tennessee.
This lottery is also a member of the Multi-State lottery where it participates in the Mega Millions and the Powerball draws.
History of Tennessee Cash
The Tennessee Lottery sold its first ticket in 2004, following which they switched to ball drawings by 2007. The Tennessee Cash is a recent addition to the gamut of lotteries. It replaced Pick 5 2010, and is an instate jackpot game.

How to play Tennessee Cash
Tennessee Cash is where players draw six numbers ready for the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday draws at 10.30pm. They do this on a panel, which is at $1 each and which has five play areas on each, ranging from letter A to E. The player must select six numbers from 1 to 35 in the upper area of the panel and then 1 to 5 in the lower area of the panel. Players do have a chance to play ‘Quick Pick’ which selects numbers for you at random.
Players must sign the Play ticket to secure it. Players can also select ‘Multi-Draw’ box which will allow players to play up to 12 times.
How to Claim your winnings
Players can claim their winning ticket at a retailer or lottery district office or by mail as long as it is $600 or less.
If the prize ranges from $600 to $199,999, it has to be claimed at the district headquarters, which is the Tennessee Lottery district office or it can be claimed via mail.
Prizes with the value of over $200,000 must be sent to the head office in Nashville.
It is important to note that winning tickets need to be claimed within 180 days of the event of winning the prize.
For claims over $599, players must provide a valid ID for easier verification by the authorities.
